Sisterly Swimwear is taking swimsuit season by storm. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we shone the spotlight on a truly innovative business that combines the entrepreneurial passions of two sisters into one small business that we are proud to support.
Sisters Isabelle and Olivia are the innovators and thoughtful minds behind this featured sustainable swimwear small business. Our Director of Corporate Sustainability, Cindy Bailey, had the opportunity to interview this dynamic duo to understand what drives them, where their business is headed, and what they have learned along the way.
Our goal is to create swimwear for all body sizes and shapes” – Isabelle Leger, Founder Sisterly Swimwear
Women inspiring women and breaking the bias
When it came to creating a business they could both be proud of, these sisters combined their strengths and interests into one super-charged product line that helps to inspire women across the globe with their inclusive and body-positive swimwear.
Not only are all Sisterly Swimwear products made with sustainable business practices, but they are also made from recycled fishnets. So now when you are getting into the ocean, you can be proud that you have also helped take something out of it, too. “We also use compostable packaging, so you can literally put it in your garden, rub some dirt on it and it will eventually turn into soil,” says Olivia Leger.
“We have always been passionate about fashion,” shares entrepreneur Isabelle Leger. “We could not always find products that fit our bodies the way we wanted. To show off our bodies in a way that made them flattering. We also could not find products that fit our morals.” By combining their love for fashion, their interest in protecting the environment, and their eye for inclusivity, Olivia and Isabelle have built up their business to be the change they want to see in the world.
Just like Sisterly Swimwear, Purolator is committed to our environment and doing what we can to leave the world a better place. We are thrilled to partner with this groundbreaking sustainable swimwear business and True North Small Business Grant Contest Finalist to help them deliver for the future of their business.
